Layerd amber
a word about the layers

Layerd amber
Have you ever heard of such a term for amber? If not, I'm eager to explain.
In polish we call it 'sklejka', those pieces of amber that typically have several to several dozen layers. These layers formed because resin leakage from trees occurred at certain intervals. And when a new layer began to form, the previous one had already solidified enough for the resin not to mix but to be applied to the earlier one.
This form of amber is considered less valuable because it is more fragile and, consequently, more difficult to work with. It often happens that at the beginning of work, the amber cracks, and we have to change the whole project or (horror!) throw it away. Worse, if it crumbles at the finish when we already have a ready silver setting - then the loss of time is much more painful...
But layered amber also has its advantages!
Because it consists of layers, we can observe how light refracts and reflects inside, creating an extraordinary micro-landscape.
